Well while I usually agree with that argument, it's not an argument against Wards in general - just some specific ones, i.e. Ward Against Harm and Ward Against Elements. Ward Against Melee is still good because most melee don't have AoE (notable exception: Hundred Blades, but even this isn't as highly damaging as stuff like Savannah Heat / Searing Flames). Nonetheless, I prefer Aegis for party-wide blocking. It has lots of advantages: easier to use, works even if you kite, blocks ranged attacks / wands / spirit attacks, etc.

Three pages in and no one has mentioned Blinding Surge spam? It's great in a physical heavy area, regardless of difficulty.

Ebon Battle Standard of Courage > Ward Against Elements.
Unless against fire damage, EBSoC > Ward Against Harm.
But then again Ward Against Harm is Water Magic...

Aegis - easy to use, just spec 12+1+1 <element> Magic, 9+1 Energy Storage, 9 Protection Prayers. Just for the heck of it, I give this to an Ele hero, but give him Empathic Removal as the elite.

Bsurge is generally a waste in PvE because there are so many better ways to counter melee overloads without costing yourself/your heroes an elite. Slot Enfeebling Blood, Aegis, and Shadow of Fear/Meekness on heroes, and melee can't touch you.
